Trailer Hopping : War Horse
Beautiful. Epic. Elegant. Graceful. Touching. Each scene is a painting coming to life against the backdrop of a symphony. Yet, I can't help but compare this to the magnum opus of horse stories, Black Beauty. War Horse seems like a great standalone movie about war than about a horse. The trailer depicts war: men enlisting, men in trenches, men on horses, men marching, men suffering, etc, are all about the tragedies of war. So, why the horse? Or, why not just a period piece about the human love and suffering of a horse? Maybe it would be too much like Saving Private Ryan or too much like Black Beauty. I cannot argue against the artistic mastery of the director, but the story about a horse does not entice me.
