Trailer Hopping : Parker is Another Jason Statham Staple
The Parker trailer looks very similar to other Jason Statham movies. He has created such an image for himself that his name is synonymous with action movies about a tough guy who has hot steamy sex scenes with beautiful women and can single-handedly beat the crap out of bunch of bad guys. The audience will know exactly what they’ll get from a Jason Statham movie – a lot of broken bones and seduction.
Jason Statham again plays the underdog or the guy cheated in some way and now looking for revenge. Often times he plays a character who almost has super hero abilities – he can beat up a whole gang of bad guys without blinking an eye or escape unscathed. This time Statham plays Parker, a theft who was cheated out of his share of some stolen goods and he wants revenge on the team who wanted to oust him.
The trailer also showed a lot of other typical Statham moments. Halfway through most of his films, he often sports a nice suit or tuxedo. This must be his signature look.
Another Jason Statham moment is how his work places him in the most seductive situations with women, like in Crank. Statham can easily get away with lines like: “take off your clothes”; response: “what”, Statham: “I have to know if you’re wearing a wire.” With that, Jennifer Lopez doesn’t just let him pat her down or lift up her shirt; she actually strips down to her bra and underwear in a very seductive manner. Wow. Who wouldn’t want to be Jason Statham?
Expect the usual Jason Statham action and storylines from Parker as any other Jason Statham film – fast, easy entertainment that aims to thrill and arouse without too much thinking. As long as you don’t expect too much, you’ll have fun and enjoy the film. And, that’s all I can expect from a Jason Statham film.
Parker is scheduled to open on January 25, 2013. It stars Jason Statham as Parker and Jennifer Lopez as Leslie Rogers. The film also stars Michael Chiklis, Wendell Pierce, Clifton Collins Jr, Bobby Cannavale, Patti LuPone, Carlos Carrasco, Micah A. Hauptman, Nick Nolte and others.
