Given how frequently casting turnover tends to happen with superhero franchises -- and how physically demanding many of these roles really are -- Hugh Jackman's long tenure as Wolverine is one of the more astounding cinematic feats in recent memory; at this point, he's played the character longer than Christopher Reeve played Superman, and been given a starring or supporting role in no fewer than seven X-Men-affiliated movies, including two standalone Wolverine features.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is the X-property getting all the attention right now, but as Fox shifts its focus more and more toward the "expanded universe" approach currently being perfected by Marvel, execs are already turning their eyes toward what lies ahead for the franchise -- and that includes a sequel to 2013's The Wolverine.
