Just like how some studios won’t allow critics to review their films when they know they have a stinker, the opposite is also true - if they think they have a gem, they’ll let critics review it ahead of time to spread the word.

My siblings and I liked “Alvin and the Chipmunks” when we were little. I had no problem with a movie version of it when it was announced. Well, except when it turned out to be not very good. Actually, "good" shouldn’t even be used in that sentence. It’s pretty bad, scoring 26% on the Tomatometer.

Tom Wilkinson in Talks for Lone Ranger – Tom Wilkinson is in negotiations to join Disney's Lone Ranger, starring opposite Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. Tom Wilkinson would portray a railroad tycoon in the Old West. Armie Hammer stars as the masked Texas Ranger, and his trusty sidekick, Tonto, will be played by Johnny Depp. Gore Verbinski will direct the project, which starts production this fall.
