The Transporter Refueled
Last night, “The Transporter Refueled” received a modest $365K from action fans, according to Variety. Whenever these evening screening figures are less than a million, it’s nothing to write home about. The trade publication uses another Luc Besson production, “3 Days to Kill,” as a comparison. The Kevin Costner vehicle pulled in $325K in evening screenings and ended up with a weekend sum of $12M, a respectable opening for Costner nowadays.

"The Transporter Refueled" Still Running Low on Rotten Tomatoes

Ed Skrein in "The Transporter Refueled"
Critics, who were divided on “The Transporter” franchise, are united on their reviews of the reboot. The gauge on Rotten Tomatoes for “The Transporter Refueled” is at a near-empty 16%. The consensus on the reviews site reads, “The Transporter Refueled has little to offer beyond a handful of decent action sequences, leaving this reboot's title feeling more like wishful thinking than a restatement of purpose.”

"The Transporter Refueled" Review: Ed Skrein is solid; so is the film (until the silly climax)

The Transporter Refueled
I wasn’t expecting much from “The Transporter Refueled.” What’s a “Transporter” movie without Jason Statham? Not much, I thought. I was biased because I like Statham in those films. Although after three of them, I wasn’t asking for another one, but still, if he cranks out more of them, I wouldn’t mind watching. Apparently, “The Transporter Refueled” is a reboot.

Frank Martin (played by newcomer Ed Skrein), a former special-ops mercenary, is now living a less perilous life - or so he thinks - transporting classified packages for questionable people. When Frank's father (Ray Stevenson) pays him a visit in the south of France, their father-son bonding weekend takes a turn for the worse when Frank is engaged by a cunning femme-fatale, Anna (Loan Chabanol), and her three seductive sidekicks to orchestrate the bank heist of the century.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service was the first Bond “reboot." Of the 26 films in the Bond franchise OHMSS is among the top two most admired (the other: From Russia With Love). It’s the only film in which Bond marries, the first to imply an international orgy and the only one to star George Lazenby.

Radioactive: "Godzilla" Scores 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, I Disagree

"Godzilla"
I went to a screening of the newly rebooted “Godzilla” in 3D in Regal’s RPX theater yesterday. I saw Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” in the same souped-up setting and really enjoyed the technical enhancements. Ditto for Gareth Edward’s $160M remake. The 3D image is bright and clear.

On "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"'s IMAX 3D Experience, Box Office, and Rotten Tomatoes Score

Andrew Garfield in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2"
I wasn’t a fan of rebooting the “Spider-Man” franchise so early, but Sony Pictures had to do it to keep the rights from reverting back to Marvel after they couldn’t work out a deal with director Sam Raimi and star Tobey Maguire to return for more sequels.

Robocop's Worldwide Box Office Reaches $31.5M

Joel Kinnaman in "Robocop"
Robocop opened a couple weeks ago in Asia to take advantage of the Chinese New Year holidays and took in a solid $5.5M from three small territories. I can see why after a press screening. One of the key locations in the film is China, although I think Hollywood needs to think just a bit harder than rice paddies to represent the country.

Eddie Peng Will be the New Wong Fei-Hung in "Rise of the Legend"

Eddie Peng in "Unbeatable"
According to Jaynestars.com, the new Wong Fei-Hung will be Eddie Peng. I’m still wrapping my head around this casting choice, but my initial reaction is disappointment. The producers have chosen a teen idol type actor with no martial arts background to play the most popular kung fu master of all time.

Goyer Says ‘Man of Steel’ Universe Will Re-Boot Batman

latino-review.com – ...I feel like I just came to terms with The Dark Knight Rises turning into a bold-faced dark-tone comedy the more you watch it and didn’t dig the lack of world building in Man of Steel. So imagine my surprise when David Goyer, writer of Man of Steel and presumptive writer of the Justice League movie (that is likely inevitable) mentioned to Hey You Guys that all the work they did on Batman for the better part of the past decade is going to get tossed:
