The Transporter Refueled
Last night, “The Transporter Refueled” received a modest $365K from action fans, according to Variety. Whenever these evening screening figures are less than a million, it’s nothing to write home about. The trade publication uses another Luc Besson production, “3 Days to Kill,” as a comparison. The Kevin Costner vehicle pulled in $325K in evening screenings and ended up with a weekend sum of $12M, a respectable opening for Costner nowadays.

Ed Skrein in "The Transporter Refueled"
Critics, who were divided on “The Transporter” franchise, are united on their reviews of the reboot. The gauge on Rotten Tomatoes for “The Transporter Refueled” is at a near-empty 16%. The consensus on the reviews site reads, “The Transporter Refueled has little to offer beyond a handful of decent action sequences, leaving this reboot's title feeling more like wishful thinking than a restatement of purpose.”

The Transporter Refueled
I wasn’t expecting much from “The Transporter Refueled.” What’s a “Transporter” movie without Jason Statham? Not much, I thought. I was biased because I like Statham in those films. Although after three of them, I wasn’t asking for another one, but still, if he cranks out more of them, I wouldn’t mind watching. Apparently, “The Transporter Refueled” is a reboot.

Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon
When Tsui Hark’s “Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame” set the China box office on fire in 2010 with $43.7M, you know it’s just a matter of time for a sequel. But maybe because the producers couldn’t get its star Andy Lau to commit, we instead get a prequel with Mark Chao (“So Young”) in his role.
