War Room
This is not what I was expecting heading into the weekend. In terms of this week’s new releases, I was expecting the order at the box office to be “No Escape,” “We Are Your Friends,” and “War Room.” But based on matinee numbers, Christian drama “War Room” ends up on top.

Dr. Doom in "Fantastic Four"
Things just went from bad to ugly for Fox’s “Fantastic Four” reboot. After being panned by critics before opening today (9% on Rotten Tomatoes), the studio was hoping that it would at least open to decent numbers at the box office. Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, and Michelle Monaghan in "Pixels"

Although that’s in line with what most in the industry were expecting, it’s a bit below my expectations. Like I said in my latest podcast with Binh Ngo, I was expecting a weekend opening in the neighborhood of $45M, which would translate to $15M on Friday.
