So MovieLine's Laying Off Film Critic Stephanie Zacharek; Parent Company PMC Should Have Just Moved Her to Deadline

MovieLine continues to let people go. This time it’s their film critic Stephanie Zacharek, who used to write for Salon.com. During my early days at Rotten Tomatoes when I was doing the quote culling myself, I always remember her ultra lengthy reviews on Salon. Compared to the average length of movie reviews from her peers, hers resembled books.

Roger Ebert’s memoir, ‘Life Itself’

feeds.orlandosentinel.com – This book dropped on my desk Friday and I almost recoiled. A Roger Ebert memoir? What can you say about it? If it’s trite, self-serving, and/or badly-written, who wants to beat up on the sick man? If it’s great, who’ll believe you? You’re taking pity on the sick man. People are still very protective of Ebert, the veteran Chicago Sun-Times critic, longtime co-host of assorted movie review shows (“Sneak Previews, “At the Movies,” etc.), even more so since his very public battle with cancer took away his voice and much of his face. 10 years 20 weeks ago via jackiechan
