Jessica Chastain – EXCLUSIVE: We all know that tensions rise during those final weeks leading up to the Academy Awards as media outlets decide who’s worthy and who’s not. Writers Guild Awards Go to 'Argo,' 'Zero Dark Thirty,' and 'Searching for Sugar Man'

WGA Awards – The East Coast WGA Awards show got under way at New York's BB Kings a good hour before the pokey West Coast, and attendees tweeted up a storm. Soon the trades ran with the news that the key film awards had gone to the adapted screenplay for "Argo" and original script for "Zero Dark Thirty." WGA West was still running clips from nominated screenplays like "Silver Linings Playbook" after the winners had been announced ("Argo"'s clip was the WGA joke, natch.) "Lincoln" writer Tony Kushner accepted his Paul Selvin award from Steven Spielberg as "Argo"'s win was revealed in NYC. 9 years 41 weeks ago via theothersenhman

Best Picture Nominees 2013: …”inherently thrilling”

10:58 AM 2/11/2013 by Sara Vizcarrondo
ARGO is solid but problematic; Django Unchained is a mess of errant genres; Les Mis is bloated, bombastic and juvenile (which should make it Best Pic frontrunner); and AMOUR is already up for Best Foreign Film so why vote that?

The Man Who Killed Osama Bin Laden Weighs In On The Inaccuracies Of 'Zero Dark Thirty' – If there is one movie everyone has had an opinion on this Oscar season, it's "Zero Dark Thirty." With folks like ex-CIA director Leon Panetta and filmmaker Michael Moore weighing in among the many, many, many pundits, politicians, observers and more about the film, its portrayal of torture and more, even the filmmakers have had to get in the fray with director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal forced to remind folks that this is a movie, not a documentary and that depiction is not endorsement. 9 years 42 weeks ago via jetli

Warm Bodies
The box office grosses played out very predictably this weekend; this meant good news for one of this last week’s releases, and not-so-good news for the other. Warm Bodies made the top of the box office chart with a total gross of a little over $20 million (numbers courtesy of Box Office Mojo); given that its ratings were probably better than those of the last two weeks’ other releases combined, this is hardly surprising.

Weekend Box Office Report: 'Hansel and Gretel' Comes Out Ahead of 'Parker,' 'Movie 43'

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
As badly as this last week’s new releases were received, they made a fairly good showing of themselves this weekend.

Box Office Report: 'Hansel and Gretel' Headed for No. 1, Earns $500,000 in Midnight Grosses

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters – The R-rated version of the classic fairy tale stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the famous siblings; fellow new entries "Parker" and "Movie 43" battle it out with "Zero Dark Thirty" and "Silver Linings Playbook." 9 years 45 weeks ago via jackiechan
