Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice brought some of the most iconic DC heroes together on the big screen. In order to properly introduce characters like Batman and Wonder Woman into the DC Extended Universe, you also need to include plenty of good action. This is something that Snyder is no stranger to, especially after having done other epic movies like Man of Steel and Watchmen.

Zack Snyder provided the main beat, but he worked in samples of several beloved classics to spice things up. In there, you had the obvious two, which were THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN, but there was also a reference to BATMAN: A DEATH IN THE FAMILY. Seen briefly in the film was this glimpse of the costume of one of Batman's former Robins.

Director Zack Snyder‘s latest movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, isn’t quite the “trash fire” that some people contend, but it is a troublesome mess. That argument though has been applied to most of his films with only one consistent exception. His 2004 debut feature, Dawn of the Dead, remains his best. It lacks the social/consumer commentary of George Romero‘s 1978 classic, but it finds a life and energy of its own with some bravura set pieces and action beats.

'Batman vs. Superman' Almost Featured Two Major Batman Villains Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice already has a pretty stacked deck when it comes to characters, with both superheroes bringing their own roster of supporting players to the table in addition to a couple of big villains — maybe more. Zack Snyder Wanted Christian Bale in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” director Zack Snyder says that he wanted to cast Christian Bale in his upcoming film, though Bale wouldn’t have reprised his role as the caped crusader. “This is a total and opposite reality from the Chris Nolan movies,” he told Australian publication Film Ink.  “It’s another universe, so we couldn’t hire Christian Bale if we wanted to, because he doesn’t exist in our world. Maybe we could hire him to play another part. We did talk about that briefly.
