The Butler
Despite some surprisingly positive reviews coming in for some of this weekend’s new releases, nobody expected any of them to be destined for any large revenues. It came as no surprise, then, when one of last week’s releases had no trouble sitting comfortably at the top of the box office charts once again.

Box Office Report (Limited): Wong Kar-Wai's 'The Grandmaster' Tops Mediocre Weekend – The Stephenie Meyer-produced "Austenland" remains soft, while Audrey Tautou's French drama "Therese" bombs in its debut. 8 years 8 weeks ago via theothersenhman

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones
This week’s new releases all lean toward the macabre, each of them in their own special way. One is a highly-rated, late-summer horror film, another is a not-so-highly-rated movie adaptation of a young adult fantasy series, and the last is a booze-fuelled action/comedy film from the folks that brought us Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.

Critics Consensus: The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Is a Derivative Fantasy – This week at the movies, we've got a teenage demon-slayer (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, starring Lily Collins and Lena Headey), a band of masked killers (You're Next, starring Sharni Vinson and Nicholas Tucci), some resilient pub crawlers (The World's End, starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost), and a desperate housewife (Blue Jasmine, starring Cate Blanchett and Alec Baldwin).

Box Office Report: 'Jurassic Park 3D' Opens No. 1 in China With $6.3 Million – Universal's rerelease had the fourth biggest opening day for a U.S. film in China in 2013. 8 years 8 weeks ago via jackiechan
