Film Review: 'Get Hard' Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart team up in the new comedy "Get Hard". Both are great comedic talents, so one would expect a film featuring them would be a laugh riot. Unfortunately, "Get Hard" is far from it.In the movie, Ferrell play James King, a wealthy hedge fund manager who lives a life of luxury with his fiancee, played by "Community" star Alison Brie. King is a well meaning guy, but kind of clueless and walled off from reality in his giant mansion.

Review: GET HARD, Two Men, Two Races, One Joke Less a movie than a set-up for a haggard series of intended comedy blackouts, the new film Get Hard relies far too heavily on the well-established screen personas of Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart to be successful on its own meager merits. Ferrell, working without the net of an established property for the first time since 2012's The Internship, retreats into the safe haven of a dim, dense, lovable mug, a wealthy financial expert named James King who is pleasantly oblivious to everyone other than himself.

SXSW Review: 'Get Hard' Starring Will Ferrell & Kevin Hart It's hard to think of two people on this planet who are funnier than Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. So the idea of pairing the them in some kind of mismatched buddy comedy sounds, at least on paper, like a stroke of genius, especially since the core concept was concocted by Ferrell and his frequent collaborator Adam McKay (who directed Ferrell in "Step Brothers" and both "Anchorman" movies). All of this makes Ferrell and Hart's "Get Hard" even more of a crushing disappointment.

While whoever decided to put Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart in a movie together probably got a promotion, but it's not rocket science: the latter is one of the biggest, hottest comedy names at the moment, while Ferrell just has to show up and a movie becomes 17% funnier (this is scientifically proven, so don't argue). And together they're bringing "Get Hard" to the masses and a new red-band trailer for the laffer has arrived. The premise is straightfoward: Ferrell plays a hedge fund manager convicted of fraud of headed to San Quentin.
