Specialty Box Office: 'The Paperboy' Tops Slew of Disappointing Indie Openers

The Paperboy
fb.indiewire.com – A number of high profile indies opened this weekend, including Lee Daniels' "The Paperboy," Eugene Jarecki's Sundance winning doc "The House I Live In," Andrea Arnold's adaptation of "Wuthering Heights," and the much-buzzed horror anthology "V/H/S." But only "The Paperboy" ended up with a per-theater-average of over $10,000 (and barely), suggesting it was perhaps a bit too crowded this weekend, indie wise.

New Trailer for Horror Anthology V/H/S

VHS
collider.com – Magnolia followed up on the red band trailer for the horror anthology V/H/S with a green band trailer that is theoretically approved for all audiences. Even with the friendlier green color, it is still too scary for me. I can never see this, but based on our reviews from Sundance and SXSW, V/H/S is worth seeking out if you are more comfortable with the horror genre.

Awesome First Poster for Found Footage Horror Anthology 'V/H/S'

VHS
feedproxy.google.com – The horror anthology V/H/S had enough great buzz at this year's Sundance Film Festival (watch Alex and Ethan's video review) and at the South By Southwest Film Festival (read Jeremy's review) that it ended up getting scooped up by Magnolia Films for a release later this year. V/H/S is produced by our friend Brad Miska from Bloody-Disgusting and features segments directed by six filmmakers. 7 years 22 weeks ago via theothersenhman

feedproxy.google.com – Is anthology horror on the rise? There's already that ABC's of Death project, with 25 different directors, in the works, now we've got another unique film that will include six up-and-coming horror directors. The LA Times reports on a new project being developed by Bloody Disgusting, the horror film website, and its owner Brad Miska titled V/H/S, a top secret found footage horror made up of short segments directed by six different directors, lead by Adam Wingard (A Horrible Way to Die and You're Next - seen above) and Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers). 8 years 5 weeks ago via jetli
