Given that Kate Beckinsale has already starred in four Underworld movies -- and that the series seemed to be moving on without her for next year's Beckinsale-free Underworld: Next Generation, starring Theo James -- it seemed somewhat safe to assume that she'd wedged herself into that black bodysuit for the final time.

Len Wiseman Says UNDERWORLD TV Series Being Developed; Plus Two New Films, One Possibly with Kate Beckinsale

collider.com – It looks like Resident Evil isn’t the only film franchise getting the TV treatment. While at New York Comic-Con promoting Sleepy Hollow, Len Wiseman revealed that the new Underworld film starring Theo James isn’t the only thing in the works. He’s also developing an additional Underworld film, possibly with Kate Beckinsale, and an Underworld TV series as well.

I actually sort of hate this series. Apparently, David was sidekick to Kate Beckinsale's Selina in that fourth Vampire/Lycan showdown, and will step up as the lead of the next film in the franchise.

Underworld: Awakening was released just two years ago and was the highest grossing movie in the series, but Lakeshore Entertainment feels it's time to give the franchise the good old reboot, THR has learned. Cory Goodman has been hired to write the script.
