Is 'Dumbbells' the Most January Movie of All Time?

January is traditionally a dumping ground for movies that studios don't have a lot of faith in, and although the summer blockbuster season seems to start earlier every year, the first month of 2014 looks like one of the coldest cinematic graveyards in recent memory. We're only getting a handful of wide releases this January, and it's a pretty dismal list, from the fifth installment in the cheapo Paranormal Activity series to Renny Harlin's Hercules to Aaron Eckhart in the troublesome-looking I, Frankenstein.

HIT AND RUN is a comedy about a young couple (Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard) that risks it all when they leave their small town life and embark on a road trip that may lead them towards the opportunity of a lifetime. Their fast-paced road trip grows awkwardly complicated and hilarious when they are chased by a friend from the past (Bradley Cooper), a federal marshal (Tom Arnold) and a band of misfits.

It's the closing-night film of the 2012 Seattle Film Festival, which runs May 17-June 10; the film will open in theaters June 22.
