The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The sole new release this weekend kicked summer off in a big way, topping the charts with earnings that fulfilled fully the generous projected range it was given. Despite the misgivings of old and new fans alike, The Amazing Spiderman 2 proved that it has enough merit to rival the old trilogy, at least in terms of earnings.

The Other Woman
After several weeks full of new releases doing their best to dethrone Marvel’s latest film, Captain America finally relinquished its spot atop the charts to one of the new releases. It was kind of a lukewarm weekend for everyone involved, however. Despite a plot heavily geared toward a female audience, The Other Woman pulled in the highest earnings this weekend, making well above its projected range at $24.7 million.

The Other Woman
This weekend is looking pretty grim in terms of new releases—while last weekend had the small consolation of an entertaining nature documentary to brighten up an otherwise mediocre batch of films, this week has nothing fresh to offer. So, let’s not waste any time, and see what the damage is.

'Other Woman' to Take Down 'Captain America' This Weekend – With the Summer movie season around the corner, the final weekend of April has three fairly modest movies reaching theaters. The Other Woman has the best chance of beating three-time champion Captain America: The Winter Soldier, though holdover Heaven is for Real might also contend for the top spot. Meanwhile, Brick Mansions and The Quiet Ones probably won't reach $10 million. At 3,204 locations, comedy The Other Woman should see solid attendance from female audiences. 6 years 51 weeks ago via jackiechan

Critics Consensus: The Other Woman is Short On Laughs – This week at the movies, we've got spurned ladies (The Other Woman, starring Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann), a ticking time-bomb (Brick Mansions, starring Paul Walker and David Belle), and a paranormal experiment (The Quiet Ones, starring Jared Harris and 6 years 51 weeks ago via brucelee

‘The Other Woman’ Poised To End ‘Captain America's’ Box-Office Reign – The movie marketplace has been light on movies for women and comedies recently, and Fox's “The Other Woman” is both. That makes it a very good bet to knock “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” out of the top spot at the box office this weekend. The revenge tale stars Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Kate Upton as wronged women wreaking havoc on a three-timing spouse, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau of TV's “Game of Thrones.” Taylor Kinney and Nicki Minaj co-star.
