The Imitation Game News

'The Imitation Game' Director Morten Tyldum To Direct Adaptation Of Agatha Christie's 'And Then There Were None' Agatha Christie needs no introduction as she's one of the greatest mystery novelists of all time. At some point during your life, you've stumbled across an adaptation of her works either on TV or on the big screen; there's plenty of both to choose from.

‘The Imitation Game’ Is Not Only a Tribute to Alan Turing, But One of the Most Important Movies of the Year (Guest Blog) I sadly never had the opportunity to meet my uncle, Alan Turing. We share some very basic similarities — we both attended Sherborne and King’s College, both have an affinity for mathematics, both have ties to Bletchley Park — but that’s about where we’d have to drawn the line. I couldn’t possibly claim to have achieved anything in the realm of what he did, but nevertheless I’ve always considered my relation to him a tremendous source of pride. If we were to ignore his presence in our family background, we’d be turning our backs on a link to one of history’s truly great men.

The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
Welcome to another episode of our weekend box office podcast. Hear how Binh and I did with our predictions on last weekend’s opening films: “The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water,” “Jupiter Ascending,” and “Seventh Son.” See which holdover held up better than we expected --no, it’s not “American Sniper” or “The Imitation Game.” We also give our predictions on this week’s debuts:

Project Almanac
Here’s this week’s podcast. Although “American Sniper” broke another record during the Super Bowl weekend, we discuss why there was such a steep dropoff after a very good hold during the previous weekend. “Paddington” held up well, compared to other films in the top ten. Michael Bay’s found-footage, time-travel film “Project Almanac” disappointed.

Liam Neeson in "Tak3n"
Here’s the latest podcast, where I pronounce every word with a "th" or a "t" in it as a "d." Still, Binh thinks this one is pretty good. To the surprise of no one, “Tak3n” was the top film. I pegged it in the $35-$40M range, and it came in at the higher end of that.

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death
Binh and I ran down the list of the top films at last weekend’s figures. The majority of the top films experienced drop-offs of 30%-50%. I was thinking the New Year’s Weekend would hold up better, but a glance at BoxOfficeMojo.com proved me wrong. We were right on the mark in our prediction with the week’s only wide release, “The Woman in Black 2:

“The Imitation Game” has been named the best film at the 2014 Capri International Film Festival, which concluded on Friday on the island of Capri, Italy. The film’s director, Morten Tyldum, was named best director. Timothy Spall was honored as best actor for his performance in “Mr.
