Christian Bale Eyes Travis McGee Role in 'The Deep Blue Good-By' Christian Bale is in early talks to star as Travis McGee in The Deep Blue Good-by for 20th Century Fox. The adaptation is based on John D. MacDonald's 1964 novel, the first of 21 books that featured the Travis McGee character.The studio doesn't have an official offer out to the actor yet, but he has agreed to come on board, with an offer to come very soon.


Leonardo DiCaprio Exits Travis McGee Movie ‘The Deep Blue Good-by’ – Leonardo DiCaprio is saying ‘goodbye’ to 20th Century Fox’s Travis McGee movie “The Deep Blue Good-by,” which James Mangold is now in negotiations to direct. The project had been developed as a starring vehicle for DiCaprio, who will now simply produce with his Appian Way partner Jennifer Davisson-Killoran, Amy Robinson and Chernin Entertainment.

With MLK Film Delayed, Greengrass Tries McGee – For the first few months of this year, "United 93" and "The Bourne Ultimatum" director Paul Greengrass had been developing his Martin Luther King Jr. feature "Memphis". Greengrass and producer Scott Rudin had hoped to get the film done by next February. Then, Universal Pictures passed on the project citing "scheduling reasons", and yesterday it was revealed via Deadline that the director has now shelved it for at least a year and is already moving onto other projects.
