The Best Of Me News
Critics Consensus: Fury is Certified Fresh
Nicholas Sparks maintains his consistent spot atop the bestseller list for one simple reason — the formula works. His template driven stories always find an attractive couple driven apart by some circumstance, only to fight their way through it, with underlying message continually that love conquers all. And once again, that familiar tale is spun in a new cinematic package in "The Best Of Me."
James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan star in the story of high school sweethearts who find their romance interrupted when the bad boy half of the couple is shipped off to jail.

Death is a staple of Nicholas Sparks romances, and that’s as true as ever in his latest movie adaptation The Best of Me. This time, the Grim Reaper conveniently provides an excuse to bring two high school sweethearts back together. Rich girl Amanda (Michelle Monaghan) and wrong-side-of-the-tracks boy Dawson (James Marsden) haven’t seen each other in twenty years when they reunite at the funeral of a mutual friend. Sparks fly, but lots of obstacles stand in their way because there would be no movie otherwise.
