Good news gore hounds. With a $21.7 million opening weekend, a sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D is coming. How could it be otherwise? These movies are relatively cheap to make and the producers have planned ahead and acquired the rights to make 7 of these movies, including the first one.

Promised Land
The first week of 2013 offers two radically different new releases: a slasher-horror film and a political drama. Despite the variety, there may not be something here for everyone, as critical reception of the new films was lukewarm at best. Opening today is Texas Chainsaw 3D, a sequel to the infamous 1974 horror film of almost the same name.

collider.com – As we head into the beginning of January, we prepare for a rather drastic shift in new releases from awards contenders to genre fare. A few new images from the film have landed online, giving us a couple of new looks at ol’ Leatherface. 8 years 14 weeks ago via jackiechan

feedproxy.google.com – Honestly, we're not all that thrilled to see Texas Chainsaw 3D in January. It's a continuation of the story from the original film 28 years ago, but the gimmicky use of 3D and generic feel of the film doesn't feel like anything fresh. Of course, Alexanda Daddario does a lot to make us want to give it a chance, so we'll see what happens. 8 years 16 weeks ago via jackiechan
