Seth MacFarlane Talks Returning Ted 2 Cast, Western Action In His Upcoming Films

Seth MacFarlane
Seth MacFarlane was on a panel before the Television Critics Association for the documentary series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey with Neil deGrasse Tyson. He produced the series. When the session on Cosmos was over, I approached MacFarlane for an update on his films. He was brief, but I got some news out of him. With Ted 2 on the schedule for release in 2015, MacFarlane has not completed the screenplay as yet.

'Ted 2' May Be Distributed by Another Studio

After the Mark Wahlberg comedy Ted grossed over $560 million at the box office worldwide, Universal would certainly like a sequel, so much so that the studio has already announce a June 26, 2015 release date. There's just one problem.

Universal Doesn't Have Rights to Make Ted 2

ign.com – Universal Pictures is so eager to make Ted 2 that they've already scheduled it for a June 26, 2015 release. The only problem is that they don't actually have the rights to make the followup to Seth MacFarlane's 2012 comedy blockbuster. In a very interesting article on the current nature of independently financed, studio-released films, The Wall Street Journal explains that Ted was financed and produced by the privately backed Media Rights Capital, which in turn sold the distribution rights to Universal who distributed and marketed the film. 8 years 1 week ago via theothersenhman
