In an extended interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actor/writer/director Sylvester Stallone claims he is done making movies as Vietnam vet John Rambo. As pointed out by Slashfilm, Stallone said, “The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!'” Though he’s flirted with a fifth Rambo film over the years — at one point the plot saw Rambo fight “feral beasts” — he stepped back from the idea, saying “It’s like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered.

As the seventh installment in the Rocky franchise and a soft-reboot in its own right, Creed had a lot to live up to. The film tells the story of boxing champion Apollo Creed’s son Adonis, (Michael B. Jordan) as he fights to emerge from his father’s long shadow, training with Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and struggling to achieve greatness.

Creed is great. It’s certainly better than most people thought it could be, with intensely great performances from Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone (mounting his own comeback of sorts) and the scene-stealing Tessa Thompson, and Ryan Coogler proving himself as a more-than-competent director with his first blockbuster film. Given Rocky’s history of sequels and that Creed essentially passes the torch to Jordan’s eponymous fighter, could we see the actor return for another round? Continue reading…
