With the Sinister sequel slated to start next week, it's about time for Focus Features to start coughing up details regarding the storyline and who's going to star -- which they've just done, announcing that Shannyn Sossamon has signed on to do a whole bunch of screaming as the mother of 9-year-old twins who unwittingly moves her brood into (whoops!) "a rural house marked for death." Sossamon will be joined by James Ransone, who Sinister fans may remember from the first installment as a well-meaning police officer; he'll return to reprise his role.

After directing The Fast and the Furious 7, James Wan left the Insidious franchise in the hands of screenwriter Leigh Whannell. Blum still expects he can convince Wan to make another horror movie for him, joking that it could be as soon as Insidious 4.

'Sinister 2' in the Works

If there's one thing Blumhouse president Jason Blum loves, it's a cheapie horror franchise that his studio can roll out on a more or less annual basis -- and having already firmly established Paranormal Activity, with Insidious set to follow in its footsteps, now it's time to get cracking on series number three.

'Sinister' Will Scare You Again As Sequel Brews – You gotta hand it to producer Jason Blum; he knows how to spend a little and make a lot. Between the "Paranormal Activity" franchise, "Insidious" and "Sinister" he's proven he can take a million bucks or so and make that back dozens of times over. And while the found footage movie is now a bonafide franchise, the latter two films are going down that path too. 9 years 11 weeks ago via brucelee
