Fox to release "Rogue Cut" of X-Men: Days of Future Past next summer In July we learned an extended version of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST was in the works, and yesterday at a press event, writer/producer Simon Kinberg announced it will be released in the first half of 2015. Director Josh Trank has more or less earned our trust, but there's really no getting around the fact that the Fantastic Four film franchise has been mostly underwhelming thus far -- something owing at least as much to the inherent squareness of the comics as it has to the overall miscasting and periodically inept filmmaking that marred the first two films.

Simon Kinberg says Ridley Scott's next film will be The Martian

Kinberg is a producer on the project, and was the man who first brought Andy Weir's ebook to the attention of original director, Drew Goddard. It isn't perfect, and it's probably not a very good entry point for anybody unfamiliar with the film series and its comics counterparts, but for a movie that sends an enormous cast hurling around the world and across time, X-Men: Days of Future Past does a pretty darn impressive job of never losing sight of its plot.
