We all chortled when Warner Bros. decided it was going to go ahead and make a movie "based on" Lego bricks, but that turned out pretty okay for everyone, so we'll refrain from laughing at the news that the studio is forging ahead with an "adaptation" of the hugely successful online game Minecraft -- even though it really does seem like they might be pushing their luck with this one.

What does one do after one has rocked and socked one's robots? It's a question whose answer didn't appear to be especially pressing after director Shawn Levy directed Hugh Jackman in the robot-boxin' flick Real Steel in 2011, but since the movie grossed nearly $300 million worldwide, DreamWorks greenlighted a sequel -- one that's languished in development limbo ever since, thanks to Jackman's X-Men obligations and what seems to be generally pokey work on a script.

Universal in Talks to Pick Up THE 39 CLUES from Turnaround; Shawn Levy No Longer Attached to Direct – The feature film adaptation of the adventure novel series The 39 Clues continues to linger in development. The Scholastic book series was initially picked up by DreamWorks as a potential directorial project for Steven Spielberg, but Brett Ratner was subsequently tapped to take the helm. Ratner’s iteration of the film never came together, and Night at the Museum helmer Shawn Levy signed on to direct earlier last year.
