Ethan Hawke is an ex-getaway driver tear-assing through Sofia, Bulgaria to rescue his kidnapped wife (Rebecca Budig) from a cyber villain who appears to him as a disembodied voice (Jon Voight). As Voight barks commands in his campiest Hanz&Franz, Selena Gomez infiltrates the car (her car, recently stolen), later out-sleuthing Hawke with a spate of iPad apps that slowly hack away at the villain’s agenda and our credulity as well.

New in Theaters: 'One Direction: This is Us,' 'Getaway,' 'Closed Circuit'

Getaway
This weekend brings in three new releases that, unfortunately, don't have a lot to offer most audiences--the best-rated film entering theaters has a very narrow range of appeal, and the other two releases have not fared very well under the eye of critical scrutiny. First 'Getaway' Trailer Suggests a Familiar Ride

Getaway
It may be true that there aren't any new stories to be told, but there's still a difference between a film that tries to put a unique spin on a familiar tale and a movie that settles for a generic retelling. Judging from its title, you might guess that the Ethan Hawke/Selena Gomez thriller Getaway would fall into the latter camp -- and after watching this trailer, you probably won't change your mind.
