Dirty Dancing is one of those staple romances of the 1980s that is still so popular today that it stands among the likes of Back to the Future, Jaws, and Ghostbusters as movies that are currently playing in drive-ins around the country and always seem to be on television every single weekend. Now it appears the popularity of the title has resulted in a nostalgic revival in the form of a new Dirty Dancing movie in the works at Lionsgate which will bring back the original film’s star, Jennifer Grey.
Deadline has confirmed the news that was first circulating back in mid-July.

The long-delayed Valley Girl remake will hit VOD next month. Directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, the new version features musical elements and stars Jessica Rothe and Josh Whitehouse as star-crossed lovers. As you’ll see from the trailer, the remake has a strong ‘80s jukebox aesthetic and pays tribute to its 1983 source material. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, we learned that over two dozen Marvel Cinematic Universe actors were going to be lending their voices to the upcoming animated Disney+ series What If?, which explores alternate realities within the MCU. One name that was absent from that long list of performers was Robert Downey Jr., leaving us to assume that the MCU’s highest-paid actor truly was finished playing Tony Stark after his swan song in Avengers: Endgame.
But according to fellow MCU member Jeff Goldblum, that’s not the case.
