Sony has bought the projectIt’s four years since Robert Rodriguez announced he was looking to mount a live-action remake of ‘80s animated adventure Fire And Ice. He’s been busy on other things since then, but has now signed a deal to direct the film for Sony.Fire And Ice, which will draw from Frank Frazetta’s artwork in a similar – though perhaps not as direct – way to Sin City and Frank Miller, adapts the story from the Ralph Bakshi animation. It’s all launched when evil type Nekron sends glaciers out that destroy most of the surrounding strongholds.

When Robert Rodriguez’s original "Sin City" was released way back in 2005, the VFX-heavy neo-noir felt like something genuinely groundbreaking – a comic book adaptation so faithful to the source material and its striking visuals that the comic's creator Frank Miller received a co-directing credit. Rodriguez and Miller didn't so much translate sequences from Miller's beloved cult series as they practically cut and pasted them out of the graphic novel, positioning them in arresting tableaus Xeroxed straight from the books.

Score one for equality! Well, kind of. Fresh out of Comic-Con comes a brand new red band trailer for Robert Rodriguez’ and Frank Miller‘s Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (does this call for a “DOTPOTA” style acronym? “FMSCADTKF”? sounds like a bad governmental agency), one that applies just a smidge of the same lascivious behavior normally heaped on the ladies of the franchise to one of its (new) leading men.
