They’ve set Joe Gazzam to write the screenplay after he was among a group of screenwriters who pitched their take on a movie that still holds up as a guilty pleasure. 6 years 27 weeks ago via brucelee

Writer Ed Brubaker Refuses To Remain Silent About The Maniac Cop Remake – Never one to hate all remakes equally, I'm quite excited about the Maniac Cop redo. With original trilogy director William Lustig producing and Only God Forgives director Nic Winding Refn also sitting behind-the-scenes, it's hard to cast a cynical eye on the project. I was happy last week when it was announced that comic writer Ed Brubaker ("Criminal", "Captain America") would pen Matt Cordell's latest adventure. 6 years 29 weeks ago via brucelee

Michael Hui and Wong Cho-Lam in "Delete My Love"
While I was in Hong Kong during the Hong Kong International Film Festival, I saw posters for Patrick Kong’s comedy “Delete My Love” (Wong Cho-Lam, Michael Hui) all over the city. Apparently, the comedy was being shopped to foreign distributions at the Filmart, and Nu Image had expressed interest.

Rumor: Chris Hemsworth Sought For 'Lethal Weapon' Reboot With Justin Lin Directing – We've long known that Warner Bros. was planning some kind of remake/reboot of "Lethal Weapon" — along with a bunch of other titles in their catalog —and at one point "Gangster Squad" writer Will Beall was tapped to pen the script. And we basically haven't heard anything in a few years, but today some fresh rumors suggest this thing is back in motion in a big way.

It's Apparently Time for Another 'Power Rangers' Movie

1:28 PM 5/7/2014 by Jeff Giles
Because we can never go more than a day or two without Hollywood reminding us that it's impossible to scrounge too greedily for a movie based on a name brand property with franchise potential, Wednesday brings word that Lionsgate has inked a new deal with Saban Brands that will result in a new Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie.

‘Winter Soldier’ Creator Ed Brubaker Scripted the ‘Maniac Cop’ Remake – I keep forgetting that Nicolas Winding Refn is producing a remake of Maniac Cop. He’s got the film’s original director, William Lustig, working with him as producer, and that’s a pretty good combination. This new Maniac Cop will likely be rather different from Lustig’s original exploitation effort, which starred the incomparable Robert Z’Dar as the title character, and featured Bruce Campbell and Tom Atkins. 6 years 30 weeks ago via brucelee

Jean Claude Van Damme in "Kickboxer"
While in Hong Kong during the Hong Kong International Film Festival, I read an interview that Stephen Fung did with Time Out Hong Kong, a magazine that was lying in my hotel room.

A "Phantom" Reboot Moving Forward? – A new adaptation of the classic comic serial hero "The Phantom" is reportedly in the works at the Mark Gordon Company and Management 360 according to The Tracking Board. Drew Simon is said to be executive producing the project and they are currently seeking writers to spin this new adventure of 'The Ghost Who Walks'.

The sketch-comedy duo will collaborate on the project with Paul Maslansky, producer of past Police Academy installments. Vulture talked to the Key & Peele stars at Saturday's American Comedy Awards about how they’ll update the 30-year-old, seven-film franchise. 6 years 31 weeks ago via jetli
