The upcoming remake of horror classic Suspiria will be something totally different. The original Suspiria was directed by Italian horror maestro Dario Argento and tells the story of an American student arriving at a German dance academy, and slowly realizing it’s run by a witch. The story takes second place to the film’s rich Technicolor visuals, Goblin’s memorable score and the ultra-gory murder setpieces. The film is rightly considered Argento’s finest moment, and fans of Suspiria are doubtful a new version could even approach the haunting atmosphere of the original.

Sony Pictures Classics has nabbed the rights to Michael Mayer’s “The Seagull,” starring four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening, two-time nom Saoirse Ronan and Emmy winner Elisabeth Moss, the studio announced on Tuesday. The film is an adaption of the classic 19th Century Russian play by Anton Chekhov, highlighting the unrequited desire of several characters that have fallen in love with people that want someone else. “If I could dream up the perfect company to release my film, I would conjure Sony Classics,” said Mayer in a statement.

‘The Crow Reborn’ Finds A New Nest At Sony Pictures After being buried under the weight of Relativity Media’ bankruptcy proceedings and a number of creative incarnations, The Crow Reborn has risen like a phoenix from the ashes and found a new home at Sony Pictures. Original producer Edward R. Pressman will now produce with Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films and Kevin Misher‘s Misher Films.
