Pixels Can’t Squish Ant-Man at the Weekend Box Office Adam Sandler’s Pixels failed to stomp on Ant-Man this weekend at the domestic box office, with the latest Marvel superhero to hit the silver screen edging out the largely panned retro games comedy. In its second weekend Ant-Man banked a further $24.8 million at the box office, bringing its domestic total to over $106 million.

“Pixels” drew $24M worth of quarters this weekend in theaters, continuing Adam Sandler’s slide at the box office despite having “Harry Potter’s” Chris Columbus at the helm. Generally speaking, that’s a decent figure for a comedy, but it’s got a couple of things working against it. First, during the comedian’s heyday, each of his films routinely opened in the $40M range.

Review: Pixels   PLOT: After an alien race misinterprets a NASA space capsule containing video feeds of classic circa-1982 arcade games as a declaration of war, a former gamer (Adam Sandler) and his arcade-obsessed friends are all that stand between the earth and total destruction. REVIEW: It can’t be denied, PIXELS is the best movie Adam Sandler’s done in a long time. Sadly, after a good decade of terrible movies (with... Read More...
