While the major conceit of Pixels has to do with aliens invading Earth disguised as 8-bit arcade game characters and the has-been arcade game players (Adam Sandler, Josh Gad, and Peter Dinklage) who must defeat them, there are also a couple b-plots involving Kevin James as the president of the United States (and Sandler’s childhood friend) and Michelle Monaghan as Sandler’s romantic interest.
We recently sat down with Kevin James and Michelle Monaghan to talk about their roles in the movie, as well as whether or not Monaghan would ever be interested in reteaming with Shane Black,

In 2010, French filmmaker Patrick Jean released an ingenious short film about classic video game characters attacking -- and pixelating -- New York City. Featuring gorgeous visuals and a winning premise, the short quickly went viral. Of course, Hollywood wasn't going to sit by and not cash in on a feature-length version, so Sony picked up the rights to Jean's creation, adapted it for the big screen and put a bunch of funny people in it -- namely Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage and Michelle Monaghan.

Here’s the new trailer for Sony’s new video game disaster film, Pixels. The movie, directed by Chris Columbus, stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad.
The trailer certainly seems very Sandler-y and that is a pretty big negative to me. There is some real talent on board here though, who are capable of making a good movie. The idea of aliens misinterpreting video games as a sign of war is also good one, so there is at least potential.
For me, it will likely come down to how much Sandler puts himself into the movie.

So EW has your first look at Adam Sandler and the rest of the 'Arcaders' in Christopher Columbus' adaptation of the short film Pixels. Left to right you have the lovely Michelle Monoghan, Sandler, Josh Gad and Peter Dinklage sporting a wicked mullet. Shown above in their suits for the first time, the so-called Arcaders are on their way to take down Pac-Man. "They're actually becoming sort of cultural heroes at this point. It's a very important shot in the film," says Columbus.According to the report the three were video game prodigies back in the early 80s.
PIXELS is a unique Adam Sandler film, as in unlike other recent movies starring the actor, the premise doesn't make me want to bounce my head off of a wall. Based on Patrick Jean's short film of the same name, Chris Columbus' PIXELS will follow a group of old-school arcaders as they try to save the world from an 8-bit video game inspired alien invasion.
The latest issue of EW has a...

It doesn't seem like many of you are too high on Chris Columbus' upcoming PIXELS starring Adam Sandler, however it does have a few things going for it. It's based on Patrick Jean's excellent 2010 short film about video game characters attacking New York, and it will also star Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad and Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage. Ok, so I could do...
