Lionsgate didn’t screened “One for the Money” starring Katherine Heigl for critics last week, so they knew they had a Rotten tomato in their hands. Critics had to actually pay to see the film on Friday (or over the weekend), and then review it for their publications. Most will probably just move on.

The weekend estimates are here, and there are a some surprises. “The Grey,” a survival thriller featuring fisticuffs between Liam Neeson and wild animals, did better than expected. It started Friday with an estimate of $5M-$6M, but the final figure ended up being $6.5M. Good reviews probably helped. When the weekend was done, it hauled in $20M, which is a few million better than what box office pundits have predicted.

Katherine Heigl's "One for the Money" Getting Terrible Reviews, Scoring a Perfect Zero on Rotten Tomatoes So Far

2:17 PM 1/27/2012 by Senh Duong
Yikes, it’s a really bad start for Katherine Heigl’s “One for the Money,” an adaptation of Janet Evanovich’s bestselling novel. I knew it was gonna be bad because it was either not screened for critics or a strict embargo was enforced by Lionsgate.

Theater Chain Won't Play 'One for the Money'

deadline.com – EXCLUSIVE: To movieogers on the coasts, the Marcus Theatre chain isn’t a household name. But people in flyover country go to the more than 50 first-run theatre locations in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. So Midwest audiences won’t see Lionsgate’s One For The Money in a Marcus Theatre because the theater chain and the studio couldn’t come to financial terms. 8 years 22 weeks ago via jetli

Liam Neeson, Sam Worthington, and Katherine Heigl are all headlining the new wide releases this week. In The Grey, Liam Neeson plays one of the survivors of a plane crash who not only have to deal with the harsh winter conditions, but they have to stay one step ahead of the wolves so they don't become their dinner.

Critics Consensus: 'The Grey' is Certified Fresh

rottentomatoes.com – While the world of filmdom trains its sights on the Sundance Film Festival this week, there are plenty of diversions in multiplexes for those of us who couldn't make the trek to Park City. We've got a snowy survival story (The Grey, starring Liam Neeson and Dermot Mulroney), a twisty heist thriller (Man on a Ledge, starring Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks), and the tale of a sassy bounty hunter (One For the Money, starring Katherine Heigl and Jason O'Mara). 8 years 22 weeks ago via jetli
