This weekend was very good to both of the new releases, despite the disparity in ratings (and quality, to be honest) between them—their projected earnings were generous to begin with, but they were able to make above even these relatively large predictions over the weekend (probably owing to the lackluster releases of the last couple weeks).

Given the relatively poor reception this latest batch of new releases received, most people would’ve expected another good weekend for The Lego Movie, and modest earnings for our new releases. However, both new releases were able to make it to the top two spots on the charts, probably because any real film competition they might have had is several weeks old.

It’s looking like another somewhat dreary week in terms of the quality of new releases, as we have two more action films that are a little lacking in the plot development department.
