With Neil Burger not returning to direct the Divergent sequel Insurgent, Lionsgate has turned to R.I.P.D. helmer Robert Schwentke, according to Deadline. Divergent is the big screen adaptation of Veronica Roth's first novel of her sci-fi trilogy. Divergent is followed by Insurgent, which is then followed by Allegiant.

Divergent, the movie based on Veronica Roth's novel of the same name, isn't even in theaters, but that's not stopping Summit Entertainment from setting the sequel in motion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has tapped Oscar-winning screenwriter Akiva Goldsman to touch up the script for the sequel, which is titled Insurgent.
