'Neighbors 2' May Not Happen

MovieWeb - Sat, 2014-06-07 16:39

Neighbors is already one of the big winners of the summer. It opened to $49 million, knocking superhero heavyweight The Amazing Spider-Man 2 out of the number one position back in early May. It has gone onto gross $134.2 million in the states, and a hefty $213.5 million worldwide off an estimated $18 million budget. It's a solid earner, and a sequel makes sense.

X-Men: Days of Future Past
It’s not uncommon for a particularly successful film to earn above and beyond its predicted earnings; it is rare, however, for a film to earn a full $30 million higher than it was predicted to. This weekend saw such a phenomenon, as moviegoers stormed the box office to see X-Men:

Weekend Box Office Report: 'Godzilla' Tramples its Way to the Top

7:24 PM 5/18/2014 by Logan Falk
It seems the world was definitely ready for a Godzilla reboot, as the monster’s presence in the box office was nearly as big as that on-screen. All half-clever word play aside, its revenues were enormous: there was very little contest as to which release, new or old, would take the lion’s share of box office earnings.

Is Rose Byrne of 'Neighbors' Comedy's New Secret Weapon? – Who says beautiful women can’t be funny? Just watch as porcelain-pretty Rose Byrne does the near-impossible by upstaging the bawdy boys in “Neighbors,” a raunchy R-rated suburban warfare comedy that pits abdominally endowed frat leader Zac Efron against pot-bellied cubicle drone Seth Rogen. As Rogen’s housebound wife and mother of an infant daughter, Byrne is the one who elicits audience applause by fiendishly using her powers of seduction to convince Efron’s best buddy to put “a ho before a bro” and cause a rift between the pals. 8 years 20 weeks ago via jetli

Mania Box Office Report: Spidey Falls?! – It is usually a foregone conclusion that the first big summer movie takes the first and second weekend. However, this year this wasn’t the case. Marc Webb’s follow up to the Amazing Spider-Man has fallen to the Zach Efron and Seth Rogan comedy Neighbors. If you look at the numbers alone, in ratio from budget to weekend take... 8 years 20 weeks ago via jetli

Weekend Box Office Report: 'Neighbors' Trashes Everyone on the Charts

6:07 PM 5/11/2014 by Logan Falk

Seth Rogen's on a Roll: "Neighbors" Scores Fresh 74% on Rotten Tomatoes

Seth Rogen and Zac Efron in "Neighbors"
Following the critical and commercial success of “This is the End,” Seth Rogen returns with another raunchy comedy “Neighbors.” This time, instead of fighting zombies, his character battles a bunch of frat boys -- played by Zac Efron and Dave Franco among others -- who turns the house next to his into a frat house. That wouldn’t be too bad if Rogen’s character and his wife, played by “Bridesmaids’” Rose Byrne, didn’t have a newborn to take care of.

New in Theaters: 'Neighbors,' 'Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return'

3:26 PM 5/9/2014 by Logan Falk
The second week of movie summer brings us as schizophrenic a set of releases as can be—one is an R-rated (and very rightly so) comedy, and the other a light animated feature for the whole family. At this point, the familiar line to trot out is, “Well, there’s something for everyone!” However, if the critics are to be believed, this is only the case if you have low standards for animated films.
