In the good old days of Hollywood (which always kind of seemed like the cruddy old days, but we digress), film fans grew accustomed to the notion that there was a certain bar that intellectual properties needed to clear before they were considered worthy of film adaptation. But those days are done, friends, and in the new Hollywood, anything that has even the slightest bit of brand recognition is fair game.
