‘Guardians of the Galaxy’s Michael Rooker Rejoins Jazz Biopic ‘Bolden’
deadline.com –
XCLUSIVE: Hot off his turn as the bounty hunter Yondu in Marvel's hit Guardians of the Galaxy, Michael Rooker is returning to Bolden. After starting production seven years ago and doing reshoots in 2009, the film's writer, director, and financier Dan Pritzker lost key stars to scheduling including lead Anthony Mackie, who went on to superhero heights in Captain America:

Michael Rooker was kind enough to sit down with me and bash knuckles like the kids do nowadays. We also discussed Guardians of the Galaxy and his character Yondu Udonta, the blue-skinned alien responsible for raising Peter Quill.

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and star Michael Rooker presented the Saturn Award for Best Comic-to-Film Motion Picture to Kevin Feige for Iron Man 3. While Feige was photographed with his award, I got to ask Gunn and Rooker about the upcoming Marvel movie. By now you’ve seen the trailer with “Spirit in the Sky” and “Hooked on a Feeling” playing on the soundtrack.

Guardians of the Galaxy won't hit theaters until August, but all the actors have been continuously talking about this movie. We haven't seen a trailer yet, so we didn't get to see the guardians in action, but we have seen some pretty great photos so far. That includes the set photos from back when they were filming.

GOTG: Michael Rooker On Yondu; "There's Hope In This Character"
comicbookmovie.com –
Michael Rooker has proven one of the toughest nuts to crack when it comes to getting any information out of him about his role in Marvel's upcoming space adventure, Guardians Of The Galaxy, and that continues in a recent interview with Total Film. Try as they might, they just can't get too much out of the former Walking Dead hard-case -- BUT, he does hint that his character Yondu might be more than just a straight-up villain in the movie.

"The speciality is that it has Michael Rooker, Chris Pratt, Dave Batista and Zoe [Saldana] - it's the cast, my friend," Michael Rooker told Digital Spy when he was asked what he believes will make Guardians of the Galaxy stand out from the countless other superhero movies currently filling multiplexes and those hitting in 2014.

Bradley Cooper Confirmed for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'
5:14 PM 8/30/2013 by Jeff Giles
From the moment Marvel announced their plans to film a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, fans of the comics have been waiting to hear who'd play the voice of Rocket Raccoon. One of the publisher's oddest heroes, Rocket is a -- you guessed it -- raccoon-like alien who's as notable for his homicidal glee as he is for his cuddly appearance, and the idea that Marvel is willing to put him on the big screen is as indicative of the studio's billion-dollar chutzpah as anything it's ever done.
First Look at Michael Rooker on the Guardians of the Galaxy Set
comingsoon.net –
Last week, we debuted the first photos from the set of Marvel Studios' upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy and now we've got even more. Filming in the countryside of Surrey, just outside of London, production has set up a spaceship crash in a field and walking among the wreckage is Michael Rooker's Yondu, another gun-toting alien, and director James Gunn!

Vin Diesel Reportedly in Talks for 'Guardian of the Galaxy's' Groot
1:51 PM 8/12/2013 by Jeff Giles
The last time anyone heard anything from Vin Diesel regarding his upcoming absorption into the Marvel Universe, he was telling fans that his still-unspecified role in a still-unnamed Marvel project would have something to do with "a kind of love story" -- leading to speculation that Diesel would either be playing the Vision or Thanos, two characters with decidedly unorthodox love lives (and personalities that would seem to lend themselves to Diesel's uniquely deadpan onscreen persona).
Benicio del Toro Joins 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

When they decided to make a movie about an intergalactic peacekeeping corps whose members include a talking raccoon, a sentient tree, and the adopted daughter of a deformed, bloodthirsty alien from one of Saturn's moons, Marvel must have known they'd need to really do something special in order to pull it off -- and judging from the way they're casting Guardians of the Galaxy, they're truly giving it their best shot.
