Back in 2008, commercial filmmaker Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. signed on to make his feature directing debut on the Zack Snyder-developed Army of the Dead, a follow-up to Snyder’s 2004 zombie pic Dawn of the Dead.

A zombie produced by Zach Snyder with Matthijs van Heijningen attached to direct. In an interview, Heijningen revealed that zombies propagate by mating with human females. As of this writing, no studio has picked up the movie.

Universal Pictures released the first TV Spot for the horror prequel "The Thing" starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Eric Christian Olsen, and Ulrich Thomsen.The Matthijs Van Heijningen-directed film will be released in theaters on October 14, 2011.
