Following the posters leading up to the full-length trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies, which will debut tomorrow, USA Today has released four new images featuring Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Alfrid (Ryan Gage), Master of Lake-town (Stephen Fry) and a massive troll.Unlike Peter Jackson's previous Hobbit and Lord of the Ring movies, the main characters in The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies have no journey ahead of them."(It) doesn't have any of that.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies won't march into theaters until December 17, but the marketing campaign for the final installment in director Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy has already begun -- and now the film's first trailer, which debuted at Comic-Con, has made its way online.

This weekend sets us back on track with our titanic winter releases, this time with the second installment of an epic trilogy that is itself a prequel to another famously epic trilogy, which is a convoluted way of saying that the new Hobbit film is out.

The first installment in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy made boatloads of cash last year, but it wasn't really the surefire critical smash that Jackson was probably looking for. Between widespread whining about the movie's length and pacing, and the brouhaha that erupted over Jackson's decision to push for screenings in 48fps, it's probably fair to say that enthusiasm for the second installment, the upcoming The Hobbit:


Eight New Posters for 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' – The page has turned from October to November and that means the Fall movie season is really kicking into high gear. Besides all the Oscar-hopefuls, Hollywood releases a whole other block of potential blockbusters, and one of the biggest this year will be The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. If you've been worried that the second movie in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy would skimp on the epic action, feel free to put those fears to rest: MGM has just posted a new extended trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and it bends over backwards to make it clear that there will be plenty of the high-stakes battles, sweeping vistas, and CGI-enhanced peril that the Lord of the Rings franchise is known for.

The Hobbit Extended Edition Blu-rays Detailed – In February, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment announced that Extended Edition Blu-rays of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey would be sold closer to the 2013 holiday season. Now, the studio has revealed new details and an official release date for the sets.
