Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Warm Bodies’ Ascends Charts, ‘Bullet to the Head’ Beaten By Holdouts
1:08 PM 2/3/2013 by Logan Falk
The box office grosses played out very predictably this weekend; this meant good news for one of this last week’s releases, and not-so-good news for the other.
Warm Bodies made the top of the box office chart with a total gross of a little over $20 million (numbers courtesy of Box Office Mojo); given that its ratings were probably better than those of the last two weeks’ other releases combined, this is hardly surprising.
'Mama 2' – Director Andy Muschietti Doesn't Think There Should Be a Sequel
screencrush.com –
‘Mama‘ was a huge hit for Universal Pictures (over $50 million so far) and you know what that means for a horror film: ‘Mama 2.’ But while studio executives are surely working on a way to spin ‘Mama’ into the next big horror franchise, there’s one person who doesn’t think there should be a ‘Mama 2′ – the director.

Weekend Box Office Report: 'Mama' Tops Charts, Releases 'Broken City' and 'The Last Stand' Fall Behind Holdouts
6:04 PM 1/20/2013 by Logan Falk
This weekend proved very lucrative for one of last week’s releases, but a little disappointing for the other two films, sad to say.
Mama came out on top this weekend, earning over $28.1 million (a considerable amount greater than its projected range of $18.5-$20 million), spiting many critics that claimed the film was underdeveloped in terms of scripting.

FIRST BOX OFFICE: Arnold Flops, 'Mama' Tops
deadline.com –
I can spend the next four days making fun of Arnold Schwarzenegger flopping in 6th place The Last Stand. The actioner featuring The Guvernator’s first solo comeback movie is just one of the major newcomers opening today for the long Martin Luther King holiday weekend.

New in Theaters: ‘Mama,’ ‘Broken City,’ ‘The Last Stand’
2:06 PM 1/18/2013 by Logan Falk
This week’s batch of new releases is looking especially grim, both in terms of subject matter (revenge, violence, horror, and crime are popular themes this week), and ratings, unfortunately.
Opening today is another suspense-horror film from the twisted mind of Guillermo del Toro: Mama. The film tells of two little girls recently discovered in the woods who had disappeared after their parents’ deaths years previous, and the dark presence that followed them out of the woods.
Critics Consensus: Arnold Makes a Satisfying Return in 'The Last Stand'
rottentomatoes.com –
This week at the movies, we've got a border skirmish (The Last Stand, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Johnny Knoxville), haunted children (Mama, starring Jessica Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), and a shady election (Broken City, starring Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe). What do the critics have to say?
