Any artist who does what he or she loves for a living can't help but battle the occasionally frustrating effects of balancing art and commerce -- in fact, it's sometimes enough to separate one's love from one's craft. So when a director as well-known as Christopher Nolan explains that he prefers film over television because "I just really like movies," you can't help but hope for him to succeed.

While he was busy refuting rumors he'd play Robin to Ben Affleck's Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Matt Damon was also apparently working on a deal to appear in a different high-profile project: Christopher Nolan's Interstellar.

Pity the poor horror movie fan. Perhaps only the modern romantic comedy proves a more consistently fruitless investment of time -- a once-mighty genre sapped of its potential by lazy filmmakers willing to bank (often correctly) on the audience's willingness to forgive cynical hooey disguised as effective formula. It's gotten so bad that whenever a horror flick comes along that manages to do anything even halfway original, it's hailed as a new classic.
