Ben Kingsley Joins Disney's 'The Jungle Book'

Ben Kingsley is joining the voice cast of Disney's The Jungle Book as the black panther Bagheera, the studio has announced. The movie is a live-action/CGI adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's book of the same name. In the book, Bagheera helps to pave the way for the human boy Mowgli's adoption into a wolf pack and also mentors and protects the boy as he grows up.

Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie have been added to the Star Wars: Episode VII cast, the official Star Wars website has announced. Their parts were not revealed. Lupita Nyong'o won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in 12 Years A Slave and was recently cast as the voice of the mother wolf in Disney's live-action The Jungle Book adaptation.

There Is Another Waiting to Join the 'Star Wars' Cast

The Star Wars: Episode VII cast was revealed earlier today, but that may not be the full cast. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that at least another "substantial role" has yet to be filled and that it's a female part.

Warner Bros. and Disney are both working on their own live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book, but Disney's is farther along and is in the process casting up. Idris Elba is the first to board and will voice the tiger Shere Khan. Joining him will be 12 Years a Slave's Lupita Nyong'o, who will be voicing the wolf mother Rakcha.
