We've been wondering for weeks whether Warner Bros. and Marvel were truly serious about pitting Captain America 3 against the Man of Steel sequel Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on May 6, 2016, and now we have our answer: The two films won't go head-to-head after all, and Warners was the studio that blinked first.

If Jesse Eisenberg wasn't your first choice to play Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel sequel, rest easy: it isn't like he was jumping up and down to play the part. In fact, as he admitted in a recent interview with IGN, he doesn't "know the history as well as the people making the movie."

Well, this is interesting: After announcing the Man of Steel sequel at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2013 and running full steam ahead with casting announcements in the months following that bombshell, Warner Bros. has apparently had a change of heart regarding just how quickly its Superman-Batman mashup movie will actually make it to theaters.

The Man of Steel sequel is already pitting Superman (Henry Cavill) against Batman (Ben Affleck) in a war for moviegoers' hearts and minds, with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) also somehow working her way into the story. For their next trick, the folks at Warner Bros. are reportedly making Joaquin Phoenix part of the mix.

Man of Steel had a bit of a bumpy ride with critics, but it encountered far less resistance with audiences -- and the home video release, due November 12, sounds like it will be suitably super. Arriving in the requisite array of formats, including DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download, Man of Steel will also offer a variety of packages for different levels of Superman fans, from the standard combo pack to a limited Collector's Edition that comes packed in a metal "S" with a lucite stand.

"Tell me, how do you make a superman?" asks singer/songwriter Bob Schneider in the opening line of his song "Flowerparts." He then proceeds to run off a list of the expected ingredients -- "Courage and a steady hand / Conviction and a damn good attitude / Spiritual and moral fortitude" -- before reversing course and reminding the listener of what really makes a man super:
