Lily James Fits Disney's Glass Slipper for 'Cinderella'

It took awhile to find her, but Disney has finally settled on a princess for its upcoming live-action Cinderella: Downton Abbey star Lily James. James reportedly beat out a shortlist of prospective Cinderellas that included Bella Heathcote and Margot Robbie; her casting affords director Kenneth Branagh with a suitable replacement for Emma Watson, who passed on the role after briefly being linked to it earlier this year.

According to Variety (via Comingsoon), Emma Watson is being considered for the title role in Disney's live-action fantasy movie, Cinderella. It is far from certain that she'll get the role since talks are still in the early stages.

Disney is rebooting Cinderella as a live-action feature, but the project hit a snag when the studio and director Mark Romanek parted ways. Romanek's vision for the fairy tale was reportedly darker than what the Mouse House had in mind, so he had to go.
