If you prefer your movies served up in black and white with tons of violence and a heaping helping of prosthetics, good news: your long-awaited Sin City sequel is just a few months away, and to help whet your appetite for the second installment in Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's neo-neo-noir franchise, Dimension has just released its first trailer.

Robert Rodriguez met with the Television Critics Association about the launch of his new television network, El Rey. El Ray is launching with a TV series based on Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn, but Rodriguez is still in the movie business with Sin City: A Dame to Kill For due out this August.
Based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching willfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.

Jill Soloway’s Afternoon Delight is intelligent and funny, full of strong comic cast members doing impressive things with painful dramatic moments; but any story predicated on the dissatisfaction of a high-end hipster housewife is going to be full of the kind of questions that make you identify and judge in equal measure.

Fame isn’t free and the toll it takes is a subject entirely elided by Lovelace, a biopic about America’s first (and perhaps only) porn super star, Linda Lovelace. In the early 70s she became a household name by starring in Deep Throat, which unlike most porn films developed a mainstream reputation, eventually luring audiences so famous their patronage was newsworthy; paparazzi caught Jackie O buying her ticket concealed with a scarf.

You've really got to work to make a biopic about the star of Deep Throat that feels in no way titillating, but let's give directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman a round of applause, because that seems to be exactly what they've created with Lovelace -- at least based on the evidence of the movie's first full-length trailer.
Skyrockets in flight. Afternoon Delight premiered earlier this year at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival as the first feature film from writer and director Jill Soloway. Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers, Wanderlust) takes the lead as a stable thirty-something whose like is shaken up after a trip to the strip club meant to spice up her sex life with her husband (Josh Radnor) results in an alluring friendship with one of the dancers (Juno Temple).

In The Brass Teapot, John (Michael Angarano) and Alice (Juno Temple) are a small town couple in their ‘20s, who are very much in love, but also very broke. Struggling to make ends meet while their friends enjoy the good life, a mysterious brass teapot in a roadside antique shop is seemingly the answer to all of their problems, when it starts spitting money out of its spout.

You'd think, given how long it took for Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez to finally get the Sin City sequel off the ground, that they might have had their cast lined up sooner than later -- but as it turns out, they're still hiring actors months after starting production. In fact, they've only just hired the titular femme fatale for Sin City:
2013 could prove to be the year of Robert Rodriguez. The prolific filmmaker has always been uber-productive, but this year, we'll get a double dose: he'll have two films hit theaters within two months of each other. The first, "Machete Kills" will land in theaters on September 13th via Open Road and and then four weeks later, Dimension Films' Sin City 2.
