Skyfall
Film franchises lose their way all the time, and the Bond series has more baggage than most -- but Skyfall acts as a lithe, brutal case study in how characters can stay vital no matter how many stories they've already told.

Skyfall
James Bond is back in the theaters with Skyfall, the only wide new release coming out this weekend. After a disappointing outing in 2008's Quantum of Solace, the new Bond movie will try to get the franchise back on track with Sam Mendes at the helm and Daniel Craig returning as the titular MI6 agent.

Review: 'Skyfall' Takes a Licking. Keeps on Ticking. (Double entendre intended.)

A close up of Daniel Craig’s eye ends Skyfall’s credit sequence. It’s a touch of Vertigo and reminds us this franchise will “keep ticking,” or at least the hands of time don't plan to stop moving. The clock motif is subtle but bigger than Bond's Omega product placement. This Bond is greying, wounded and unfit for service—but his legacy as MI6’s energizer bunny makes him the ideal (if the only) candidate to defeat a villain too internet savvy to track and too ephemeral to identify.

Skyfall
When Daniel Craig was chosen to replace Pierce Brosnan as the new James Bond, there were some questions about his fit for the role. He silenced his critics with his performance in Casino Royale and made the role entirely his own. When we think of those who have played the role, Craig is probably the third name to pop up after Sean Connery and Roger Moore.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
collider.com – As we whippersnappers start watching movies on our TVs and phones, a desperate Hollywood has turned their attentions to their steadiest and most solid base of theatergoers: the AARP crowd. In that vein, Fox Searchlight is looking to make a sequel to this year's surprise hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, based on a novel, that starred a host of, well, gray-haired actors:

feedproxy.google.com – Last night a bunch of critics in the UK were treated to an early screening of Skyfall, and while nobody invited any of our diehard 007 junkies, I figured it’s worth our while to take a look at the first reactions to the new James Bond blockbuster. To do so, I’m using the recent breakdown of elements by one of FSR’s resident Bond experts, Kevin Carr, in order to dissect the reviews and highlight their takes on each individual ingredient.
