Journey 2
New Line is developing not one but two Journey sequels and they may be shooting back-to-back, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Dwayne Johnson and Josh Hutcherson are both expected to return. No word on what the new adventures will entail, but they should be in line with the previous two movies where our protagonists find themselves in exotic locales filled with outlandish creatures.

Four Films Open Over $20M This Weekend: "The Vow," "Safe House," "Journey 2," and "The Phantom Menace"

It’s only February, but it sure feels like summer at the box office this weekend. I thought, for sure, this weekend will be a battle to the top between the two films with the longest titles: “Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace” and “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”

Box Office Report: 'The Vow' Triumphs With $41.7 Mil, 'Safe House' Nabs $39.3 Mil – The North American box-office recovery continued in a big way during the weekend as Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum Valentine's Day romantic drama The Vow opened to a sizable $41.7 million, followed closely by Denzel Washington-Ryan Reynolds action-thriller Safe House with $39.3 million. 10 years 42 weeks ago via theothersenhman

'The Vow,' 'Safe House' Draw Huge Crowds on Friday – It was an incredibly busy day at the box office on Friday, with The Vow and Safe House exceeding already-high expectations. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace in 3D also opened strong, while Journey 2: The Mysterious Island surprisingly performed in line with its predecessor. The Top 10 earned just under $55 million, which makes yesterday the top-grossing Friday in February history. 10 years 43 weeks ago via jackiechan

In Theaters: 'Safe House', 'Journey 2', 'The Vow', 'The Phantom Menace 3D'

This week, four new movies will try and take the box office crown won by Chronicle last week. The new players are: Safe House, The Vow, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, and the one and only Phantom Menace.

STRONG MIDNIGHTS: ‘Star Wars 3D’ $1.1M; ‘The Vow’ $700K; ‘Safe House’ $530K – FRIDAY 8:30 AM: Hang on for a wild ride because Hollywood is holding its collective breath to see whether the North American box office can open four major movies to $20+ million on a non-holiday weekend. It’s never been done before.* Looks like Sony Pictures’ certain frontrunner The Vow has an early start after tracking very strong for weeks 10 years 43 weeks ago via jackiechan

Critics Consensus: 'Journey 2' Isn't Quite Worth the Trip – This week in multiplexes, "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" gets a deluxe 3d rerelease, but there are plenty of other choices for those unwilling to venture to a galaxy far, far away. We've got a jungle quest ("Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Josh Hutcherson), rogue CIA agents on the run ("Safe House," starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds), and a couple rebuilding their relationship ("The Vow," starring Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum). 10 years 43 weeks ago via jetli

Journey 2 No Where Good

Journey 2 - the Mysterious Island trailer is a beautiful mish-mash of confused genres. I can’t tell what it is – fantasy, sci-fi, action-adventure or a combination of everything thrown together. Not that it matters what genre the movie is, but the fact that they have too much in one pot causes lack of focus on any one area. Thus, in turn, the movie can’t be that good, if it can’t be good in just one thing.   More »
