Most weekends, the films coming out (if there’s more than one, that is) are fairly different, presumably to attract a larger audience to the box office. Some weekends, this difference is so large as to be almost hilarious: this weekend, which promises a Taken-flavored revenge film and a quirky flick about an Olympic-level dance competition, is one of them.

Battle of the Year is the Olympics of break dancing, a tournament held every year that attracts all the best teams from around the world, but the Americans haven't won in fifteen years. Los Angeles Hip Hop mogul and former B-Boy Dante (Alonso) wants to put the country that started the Sport back on top.

Josh Peck has spent a lot of time doing press for this year's remake of Red Dawn. The cast was souped up with teen-crushes four years ago, when it's founding studio MGM went bankrupt and the film went into a period of "hold-over" to use Peck's word. Everyone's career got bigger:

Screen Gems Sets Cast For 'Planet B-Boy' – Josh Holloway (Lost), Laz Alonso (Avatar), Josh Peck (The Wackness), Caity Lotz (Stomp The Yard) and singer Chris Brown are starring in Benson Lee’s Planet B-Boy, a feature based on Lee’s 2007 documentary about the resurgence of breakdancing crews around the world.
