Film Review: THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE “Synopsis: Find out why the birds are so angry. When an island populated by happy, flightless birds is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to three unlikely outcasts - Red, Chuck and Bomb - to figure out what the pigs are up to.” Credit should be given to Sony Pictures, Rovio Entertainment, and Jon Vitti (Writer) for taking a game about flinging birds across our phones and making something worthwhile. That’s not to say the movie is perfect, but video game adaptations can be particularly brutal when the game is simple.

Angry Birds
If there were any doubt that Sony's pursuing a comedic angle with its upcoming animated adaptation of Rovio's wildly popular Angry Birds game, today's announcement that the voice cast has been thoroughly stocked with comedy stars should put it safely to rest. Led by Saturday Night Live vet Jason Sudeikis and co-starring a number of his former co-stars, including Maya Rudolph and Bill Hader, the production certainly seems like it's after the laugh factor.

The window is rapidly swinging shut on the period of time in which Sony Pictures Animation can safely look at the calendar, realize that 2016 is way past a rational sell-by date for an Angry Birds movie, and pull the plug on this whole lunatic venture. But the studio doesn't seem too worried; in fact, they just hired a pair of directors.

Angry Birds
We remain 90 percent mortified that Sony insists on turning Angry Birds into a movie, but give them this much: they at least seem to recognize that if you're going to take a repetitive one-fingered puzzle game and somehow make a film out of it, you'd better hire some pretty creative people to do the job.

Movie based on the video game of the same name. This project has a good chance of staying in development hell.
